Jeremious Henderson 

Vice President, Compensation and Benefits, FINRA

Jeremious was formally educated at Morehouse College where he received his B.A. in Management, and the Krannert Graduate School of Business at Purdue University where he received his M.S. in Human Resource Management.  He began his professional career at Hewlett-Packard in Vancouver, WA in 1997 as an HR Representative.  In this role he was responsible for Staffing and Recruiting for the Vancouver Business Printing division as well as Employee Relations for the 3300+ employee site. 

Jeremious joined IBM in Armonk, NY from HP in 1999 where he assumed the role of Compensation Program Manager for the Sales and Distribution (S&D) organization, a division with over 52,000 employees worldwide.  In this role, he was responsible for leading employee compensation programs which included the merit pay cycle and the stock option program.  He also led a project team that revamped the employee stock option tool, managed a $13M stock option budget, and implemented a Sales rotational program that was adopted corporate-wide.

After Compensation, Jeremious assumed the role as the Senior HR Partner for Global Business Partners, an organization within Global S&D, where he supported a member of the Worldwide Management Council (top 50 executives in IBM) as well as four Senior Leadership Team members (top 300 executives in IBM).  He provided business direction to three HR Partners who were responsible for leading HR in the various geographies; Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), the Americas, and Asia Pacific (AP).  It was during this time that Jeremious became intimately involved with Diversity, working with members of the Black Executive Network (BEN) on various employee initiatives. 

Jeremious then moved to Poughkeepsie, NY as the HR Manager for the location, and was responsible for day-to-day HR management of the site, as well as the resident leaders and employees for the Systems and Technology Group (STG).  He managed a team of seven HR Partners, one Diversity Program Manager, and four contractors who covered library services. 

Following this role in Poughkeepsie, Jeremious became the Director of Human Resources for the Systems Sales Organization where he was responsible for leading an HR team across multiple geographies for the Systems Sales team which consisted of approximately 13,000 employees worldwide.

In 2005 Jeremious joined Capital One in McLean, VA as HR Director of Compensation.  In this role Jeremious was responsible for the acquired banking segment (Hibernia), including integrating the bank’s compensation infrastructure, policies, and practices into Capital One.  Prior to his departure he was also the lead for Compensation integration of Northfork Bank, and partnered in the redesign of the retail incentive and commercial incentive sales plans for Hibernia.

Jeremious joined the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in 2007 as the Senior Director, Diversity & WorkLife, becoming responsible for shaping the Diversity and WorkLife strategies and initiatives to increase awareness of FINRA’s commitment to diversity, which led to launching FINRA’s first Diversity Leadership Council.  In this capacity, he was also served as the HR leader for corporate headquarters, providing advice and counsel to the CEO and the direct reports to the CEO.    

In his current capacity as the Vice President, Compensation and Benefits, he is responsible for leading the teams that plan, design, and executes on FINRA’s pay and rewards strategies, in addition to serving as the Co-Chair of the 401(k)/Pension Committee.  This role requires that he work regularly with the CEO and CFAO, as well as present to the Management Compensation Committee of the Board of Governors.  He has led major initiatives for the organization, including transitioning employees from defined benefit to defined contribution retirement plans, and voluntary retirement programs.  In addition, he has served as the Executive Sponsor for FINRA’s Womens Network, and is the current Executive Sponsor for FINRA’s Parents Network.

Jeremious is married to LaTricia Henderson, and has one son (Tyler) and two daughters (Maya and Tori).  He enjoys spending most of his time with family and friends, and engaging in the various extracurricular activities of his children.  In addition, he is an active member of his fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma, Inc.
