Kelly Schlegel

Kelly Schlegel has more than 34 years experience at Boeing in system engineering, software engineering, and program management. Kelly is helping to run two small Logistics Software businesses that Boeing recently acquired in La Jolla, CA. She just completed an assignment as the Program Manager of the Family of Advanced Line of Site Terminals which will modernize military satellite communications for the Air Force. She also was the director for Terminal Programs as part of the Command, Control, and Communications (C3) Solutions business area.  Previously she was Program Manager of the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Ground Mobile Radio (GMR) for the Army. Kelly also completed a special assignment to help turnaround the Secure Border Initiative Network (SBInet) program for the Department of Homeland Security.  She has been the Software Director of The Defense Agency Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Orbital Express Advanced Technology Demonstration Program which developed and demonstrated autonomous techniques for on-orbit refueling and reconfiguration of satellites. Kelly has also held the position of Chief Segment Engineer for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems responsible for engineering execution on seven ICBM programs across four sites. Other past programs include Peacekeeper Missile, F-111C Airplane, and Ground-Based Interceptor (GBI). Kelly Schlegel was assigned for 3 years as the Anaheim site Director of Software Engineering where she had functional responsibility for 460 software engineers on 23 programs and also was the assigned focal for standard software processes and tools. Kelly led the site to CMMI level 5. Kelly graduated with a B.S. from the University of New Mexico and an MBA from the University of Redlands. She has been married 33 years to a high school science teacher and has 2 sons, one who works for a Congresswoman on Capitol Hill and one who works as a Physician Assistant in Heart Surgery. Kelly enjoys cooking and camping.
