Michiko is an accomplished and multi-lingual marketing executive with 18 years of experience at Sony Electronics.  She is originally from Tokyo, Japan and moved to the US in 1998 to obtain an MBA. She has led newly created New Business Group since 2017 to launch unique and innovative technology products in the North America market. Prior to that, she heads up Marketing Strategy Group and Corporate Marketing Group.  Michiko is a recipient of Sony’s Samurai Award, Leadership Award by SD Chamber of Commerce and Working Mother of the Year award.  She is passionate about supporting working parents and promoting work/life balance. She is a mother of two boys and enjoys running 5K races with them.

 

Michiko Araki has made and continues to make significant contributions to the sales growth and marketing success of Sony Electronics, Inc.  As a valued leader for the company since 2000, Michiko has served as Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Planning, Vice President of Brand and Product Marketing and is currently serving as Vice President of New Business Group. 

 

Michiko’s leadership accomplishments are focus on driving innovation, marketing, and talent development.   Michiko has introduced new, creative ways to launch and promote new products and technologies for Sony.   Michiko has built a new business platform to introduce new innovated products in North America market, which includes generating demand and creating sales channels for robotics and aligning products to education and leading Sony’s efforts to champion Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM)  Launched first of its kind local and national partnership with educators to position Sony as an innovation leader by providing experiential learning opportunities for the next generation of our workforce and to link real work business operations and skillset required to educate their students.  Michiko managed over $180M annual advertising and promotion budget in order to drive 10:1 ROI.  Michiko has successfully lead and transformed a cross-functional team into strategic focused marketing organization by designing innovative and strategic go-to-market plans that included 360-degree marketing touchpoints; such as media advertising, CRM, digital marketing, retail executions, Social Media, and PR.
